Now don't be fooled, Zoe Dumas is not your average 18-year-old girl. She may have a passion for makeup, fashion and, of course, Rihanna but there's so much more to her than meets the eye. One Love had the opportunity to chat with this up and coming YouTube creator and we dished on relationships, starting a YouTube channel, channeling your inspiration and living your life! Enjoy! x
"I was a YouTube child and I just wanted to contribute and create just like the people I was watching and make people feel how I felt when I was watching those videos. "
ZD: Well honestly, I am not the type of person to open up and tell people about my feelings, like my feelings towards somebody if I them... no, that’s not me! With my feelings, I don’t open up. I definitely bottle everything up inside. But I’m a realist in the sense that… if someone's [messing up], I’ll tell them they’re [messing up]. So I’m definitely real in that aspect, like I'll let you know what you’re doing but only if you’re close to me and I see it affecting me or you in the long run - I will tell you.
When somebody talks to me for the first time, it’s like, “Wow, you’re kinda cool… you’re nice. I just thought you would have been like a b*tch or stuck-up.” And I’m just like, "wow, that’s sad." That just shows how much people can judge a book by its cover. I mean, sometimes I can be a “b*tch”... like I do admit to being "b*tchy" sometimes. But I mean, I can also be very nice, kind, open-hearted and sometimes, down to earth. I feel like this sounds shallow, talking about myself like this. (laughs)
People have told me how I can be, but I mean I wouldn't have the friends if do, I was a complete b*tch to them, come on. 😉

I was like, "come on Zoe, you have to make a channel and I did it."
ZD: I just loved that whole YouTube scene and how they entertained me. I liked the way I felt when I watched their videos and in the last 2 years, I realised when I had nothing to do, I would always watch YouTube videos and my friends now know me for that. You have any YouTube questions? Ask Zoe!
I learned how to do my nails on YouTube, I learned how to do makeup on YouTube - I just learned everything from YouTube. I was a YouTube child and I just wanted to contribute and create just like the people I was watching and make people feel how I felt when I was watching those videos.

So I was like, "come on Zoe, you have to make a channel!" And then this year, I just said: “Zoe, you’re travelling, you need to get some films. You have a long summer break this time, get your YouTube started, put up some videos." And I did it.
I’m really happy with how things are going right now. I hope I don’t start slacking off, when school starts but I definitely want to continue and keep it going because I would really love to be called a "Creator" on YouTube.

ZD: I’m not a big person on relationships, clearly! I mean, you don’t see me with guys and people are always like, “why doesn’t she have a boyfriend? Or is she that good at hiding things?” But even if I did have a boyfriend, nobody would know about it.😏🤐 Sometimes people feel a little worried for me, but honestly, I just rather admire them from a far.😍 It’s just confusing for people, that someone could be so happy with themselves and not need somebody else to make them happy or be their happiness. I would much rather be at home watching YouTube videos. Hello, YouTube is my boyfriend ;) ZD: I definitely want to make videos, even short films or big-shot movies😎I just want to be behind the camera. [I'd also be interested in doing] documentaries, I like documentaries, but I feel like I’m open to anything. I’m willing to do any style of video - whether it be, music videos, or documentaries. Basically anything! I just want to study film, and see exactly what is mine. |
Casey Neistat… that guy.🙌 He is definitely one of my inspirations to make videos. I’ve seen his channel grow from
500,000 subscribers to 4 million and I admire how he’s stayed true to himself. He’s definitely a guy who embraces himself and he doesn’t care about what anyone else thinks. For the past year and a half, he has just been inspiring me so much and
his quotes... 😍 They make me want to pick up and go, like don’t procrastinate - do something with your life.
